Editorial review:

The Bowery Hotel is a beautiful property in the neighborhood that was once synonymous with the idea of a down and out bum, the bowery bum. All of the 85 sleeping rooms have big over sized windows and most have great views. The design of the sleeping rooms and public areas are sleek and elegant but also fun and cheerful. You will find most of the high end luxury amenities that you have come to expert in larger luxury hotels. The hotel restaurant is merely average but you are in New York City where you are never far from an incredible choice of really great eating spots.

  • Lovely rooms - Free wifi - Lovely bath products

Great staff Calib at, the reception was particuLarly helpful nice and charismatic. In fact ALL THE STAFF were great. Restaurant very good Bar lots of of vibe and entertaining. Rooms clean and tidy

A bit noisy and a little small Not enough cupboard space but pros far outweigh the cons A happy happy customer

Your lobby is so welcoming and the front desk staff and a number of the porters and housekeepers were lovely. I have always liked Gemmas even when not stating with you despite the very uneven service. Yours is a hotel of great charm and idiosyncratic charm.

The service at the front door alternates between excellent and a bit nonchalant. A bit more engagement by waiters in the lobby would also be nice. The biggest issues are the noise from the Bowery at night and the lack of individual attention paid by employees to guests' habits. For example, noticing how often guests require a car service rather than taxis, or inquiring what would make a guest even happier. That is what distinguishes a great hotel from a good one. Overall we were still very happy with our stay.

friendly, helpful staff; very comfortable room; good location; excellent Italian restaurant

not enough place to store clothing -- not enough drawers and closet pace for this expensive a hotel.

Location for my purpose. Clean well appointed room. Very attractive hotel . Very comfortable beds and pillows.

The rooms are very small. The rooms are over priced for the size, even for New York.

The way the staff of the Bowery managed the hurricane Sandy was absolutly great and amazing. Even there was no power for certain days people were very friendly and gave the guests the feeling that they take care as much as they can. Thanks a lot, you did a great job.

Our suite was lovely , spacious with double aspect full length windows and very comfortable bed. Bathtub as enormous but be warned some suites only have showers which means ladies with long hair need bath caps ( which the front supplied when asked ) Some delightful front desk staff with one exception, the young Asian man who had no manners, perhaps he should swop jobs with one of the portering staff who worked very long days but still managed to smile and be helpful. Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay and would return.

Our teenage children were bitten all over by something, their room was immediately changed ant the bug seeking beagle called in . Room was pronounced clear but the bites were self evident. New room as lovely and no further problems. Reception areas are very dark and gloomy ..

Our king room felt quite spacious and comfy. I also loved the full window blackout shades!

In general I dislike duck feather pillows or duvets. Pillows are too soft and covers too hot in any temperature

It's close to where my son lives in East Village and also close to shopping on Broadway as well as many restaurants.

Great location in the East Village and cl;ose to the shops and attractions of Soho/Noho.

Although really nice it is too expensive for what it is.

Cool atmosphere, excellent service and location, great food at Gemma restaurant next door

Room quite small for the price

I love this hotel - all of the details and amenities have a perfect old-school touch, yet the place is perfectly modern, clean, and in a great location.

Nice hotel. Special atmosphere. Location is good with a lot of restaurants and bars around.

  • Older travelers

The location is great for exploring the entire downtown area. Our room was clean and functional.

I think the price is really high for the level of service and the amenities you receive. There wasn't anything too memorable good or bad about the hotel and for almost $600 a night for a small studio room I want the Hotel to be memorable. All that said we enjoyed our stay, nothing other than price to complain about.

The staff, the accommodations, the location and the comfort of the hotel were all outstanding. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return someday.

My husband thought the room was lovely but small. He said if he were there for any length of time he would want a more spacious room. He loved the shower!!

Beautiful room with painted brick, bead board ceiling, large windiws with city views, large bath. Adjacent Gemma restaurant was convenient. Young, smart and helpful staff! Even the maids were classy!
